ANA expands nondestructive testing capabilities.
Atkinson-Noland & Associates recently acquired a Brungraber
Mark III slip test device. This equipment is used to perform
testing on flooring surfaces, particularly as it relates to
slip-fall incidents. The Mark III device was just shown to be
among the best slip test equipment available in independent
lab tests at USC. ANA is experienced with preventative and
risk-control slip testing as well as expert testimony in this
area. Contact Donald Harvey, P.E. for more information on how
slip testing can benefit your organization.
ANA has also expanded its ground penetrating radar capabilities
with two additional antennas, a 900 MHz and 2.6 GHz. The 900
MHz antenna works well for subsurface detection of objects
such as crypts and archaeological ruins. The 2.6 GHz antenna is
appropriate for near surface detection of anomalies such as
delamination of stone and plaster.

Mike Schuller co-authors Structure Magazine article on heritage masonry.
Nearly all of the world’s remaining ancient monuments contain some
type of masonry. Working with historic construction involves
carefully balancing engineering objectives with preservation
principles and increased analytical efforts to make the best use of
existing construction. The authors have had opportunities to apply
these concepts to preservation of several heritage masonry structures,
including work for the World Monuments Fund (WMF), www.wmf.org, at
the temple of Angkor Wat.
